Ces Drilon - 30 Qs We Ask Thriving Women
Lessons from an award-winning journalist and eternal optimist
For someone that has been through near-death experiences and has had to deliver hard-hitting news to the nation, you'd be surprised at the eternal optimism embodied by Ces Drilon. She was kidnapped, seen hostages and abuse of power, violence, and so much more. She delivered to us the news we deserved to know.
You'd think it would sometimes be easy to be jaded after all those experiences. Yet, after our conversation with Ces, you can tell that she is still hopeful after any setback.
There's much to be said about being an eternal optimist and backing it up with hard work. We hope you'll love our conversation with Ces this week as much as we did. Here are Thirsty & Thirty's Lessons: (Send us a message on what you picked up!)
Sometimes, the people close to us know us more than we know ourselves.
You have to take risks in life.
The most meaningful conversations you can have are the ones with people who know their purpose in life.
You may never get a definite answer on the meaning of life. That's okay.
In every setback, there is an opportunity.
Never wallow in your self-pity.
Sometimes you have to fake your confidence. Trust that with age and experience, doors will open for you.
Don't focus on the money. Focus on the craft. The money will follow.
If things are not working, don't be in denial. Acknowledge it and make changes. The worst thing you can do is lie to yourself.
Inspired by the reporter's mantra, be calm even when all hell's breaking loose.
Starting this week, we'll be giving you one formula accompanied by the lessons we got from our conversation.
Formula Of The Week
Risk taking + eternal optimism + skill = endless possibilities
Let's be practical
Use your other senses. If you are overusing a specific one for work, use another similar to Ces learning how to make soap after being in the newsroom for years.
Apply the reporter's mantra. Next time you're stressed about a situation. Be calm. Breathe and communicate.
Talk to someone you believe has real meaning in their life. Choose someone who dedicates their life to the service of others.
